5 Great Senior Discounts
Senior Discounts: Being a senior has its benefits
Sure, getting older has its fair share of headaches and heartaches, but there are a number of great benefits to growing into our senior years as well. Among those benefits include retirement, which gives us more time to dedicate to hobbies, vacationing, and visiting with family and friends—and less time spent in the nine-to-five grind of a daily job and rush hour traffic. But another great benefit is all the senior discounts at restaurants stores, hotels, and more. We’ve listed five great discounts below.
Restaurants:
– Applebee’s offers a 5 - 15 percent discount to customers age 60 and older
– IHOP has a 55-plus menu with smaller portions and lower prices
– Ben & Jerry’s (most stores) offer a 10% discount
– Subway & Dairy Queen offer 10% off at participating locations
– Denny's offers 20 percent off with an AARP card
– Dunkin' Donuts will give you a free donut with the purchase of a large coffee
Rental Cars and Hotels:
AARP members get up to 25 percent off car rentals from Alamo, Hertz, National, and Budget, up to 30 percent from Avis, and 5 percent off from Enterprise.
AARP offers a variety of hotel discounts, including up to 20 percent off at Sheraton, Weston, and Ramada hotels, and up to 10 percent off at Hyatt, Best Western, and Comfort Inn. (AARP membership costs $16 a year for an individual or a couple).
America the Beautiful Senior Pass:
For U.S. citizens or permanent residents age 62 and older, just $10 ($20 via mail) will get you a lifetime pass that provides you and up to three other adults—or a carload of people—free admission to more than 2,000 national parks and federal recreation sites. Get details.
Amtrak:
