5 Fun Things for Seniors to do in Las Vegas
There’s more than gambling in Las Vegas.
When most people think of Las Vegas, Nevada, they think of casinos and gambling. Sure, a vacation to Las Vegas might include gambling (seniors love it too), but there’s much more to do as well. Here are five suggestions for your next trip to Las Vegas:
1. Visit Hoover Dam – Take a fascinating tour of Hoover Dam and its power plant. Hoover Dam, once known as Boulder Dam, is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers and cost over one hundred lives. The dam was controversially named after President Herbert Hoover. Tickets for seniors (62+) are only $12.00, parking may cost extra.
2. See a show – Las Vegas is capital to some of the greatest entertainment in the United States. From magic shows and comedy to Cirque Du Soleil, singers and dancers, they have it all. There are afternoon and evening shows, which allow you to fit in a show around your schedule. Venues have accommodations for the elderly and senior discounts may apply. 3. Visit a museum – The Auto Collections at The LINQ is an auto enthusiast’s dream. Featuring 350 classic cars that span more than a century, every single one is available for purchase. You can also visit the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, the Art of Richard MacDonald (one inside the Bellagio, one at City Center), “Bodies … The Exhibition” (inside the Luxor Hotel and Casino), The Atomic Testing Museum, or take a break from the Las Vegas Strip and see the making of chocolate and get a free sample at the Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Garden fifteen minutes off the strip.
