It’s National Nursing Home Week.
05/15/2013
National Nursing Home Week May 12 - May 18, 2013 “Team Care”. That’s the 2013 theme for National Nursing Home Week® (NNHW), a non-profit organization that salutes the residents, staff, volunteers, and others in our nation’s nursing homes.
This year’s theme recognizes residents and patients in long-term and post-acute care settings, the dedicated staff who care for them, and the value of care-planning where everyone works together as a team to produce optimal outcomes. The observance is an opportunity to involve families, community members, youth, and others in a community-wide show of support and respect for these individuals and the staff who provide care or support services.
Activities during National Nursing Home Week take place at nursing centers across the country and are designed to strengthen family relationships and encourage volunteerism by individuals and local organizations. It’s not too late to take advantage of the organization’s planning guide, located on their
website (or to send a word of thanks or encourangent to the NNHW via their
Facebook page). The planning guide offers a wealth of information. Learn how to celebrate this week. Learn why it’s important to have a week dedicated nursing home communities.
Alternatives for Seniors applauds the American Health Care Association for their efforts in producing such a wonderful week. And we’re pleased to join in the week’s observance of nursing homes and the salute to “Team Care”.
