About Brookdale Prescott

Brookdale Prescott, formerly The Peridot, is a Prescott, Arizona Assisted Living community for seniors.

Brookdale Prescott, formerly The Peridot, is a Prescott, Arizona Assisted Living community for seniors. Located one mile from historic Prescott, we are just far enough from the hustle and the bustle of downtown, yet still close to the heart of this charming city of 40,000. We’re just off E. Gurley Street which is one of Prescott’s main thoroughfares and gives us easy access to all that the area has to offer, from its numerous museums to a lovely Victorian historical district to upscale shopping centers and restaurants. In addition, there are several hospitals in the area. Brookdale Prescott is between Yavapai Regional Medical Center’s two campuses, the VA Medical Center is just four miles away and Mountain Valley Regional Rehabilitation Hospital is ten miles from our retirement community.

Prescott is a small mountain community at the same altitude as Denver. The air is wonderful, the High Desert light is spectacular and the weather is mild with just a small amount of snow in the wintertime. Our community is tucked into the foothills offering a mile-high view of the surrounding mountains and Prescott Valley.

Downtown Prescott, with its old-time square reminiscent of the Wild West and ringed with charming boutiques and restaurants, is just a short drive from The Peridot. Residents never give up an opportunity to attend a community event, art show, dance performance or good old-fashioned Western Shootout in “The Square,” as it’s called here in Prescott. They also love visiting our local museums, including the Phippen Museum of Art, a nationally known museum featuring art from the American West. We also take resident to concerts at the Yavapai Community College as well as to the Prescott Gateway Mall which is an upscale shopping center and residents always enjoy a trip to one of two Wal-Marts in the area.

With our community located in the High Desert, we occasionally take residents on scenic drives through rolling hills and forests of Ponderosa Pine and on train rides through the Verde Canyon during fall foliage season. Whether it’s attending a hockey game, taking a trip to the Prescott Zoo, going dancing, touring Prescott’s historical district of Victorian homes, visiting our local casino, or dining out at any one of several popular destinations nearby, we have plenty of interesting activities to enjoy. With our great location, there’s never a lack of things to do and our residents are always game for an adventure.

Our retirement community has a total of 103 senior apartments on four floors including three different one-bedroom configurations and one two-bedroom style unit. More than half have wonderful views and all apartments have either a balcony or patio that is large enough to accommodate patio furniture. Each apartment either includes a full kitchen or kitchenette, walk-in closets, private storage off the deck or balcony with keyed entry, wheelchair accessible bathroom and all utilities except phone and Internet service (the monthly rent also includes basic cable), individually controlled heating and air-conditioning, 24-hour emergency response system, weekly housekeeping and linen service, three meals a day, a full calendar of planned activities, scheduled transportation to activities, shopping and medical appointments, all landscaping and yard maintenance and access to our own beauty salon.

Because we are built into the surrounding hillside, our main entrance is on the third floor. Our lobby area, with its couches and fireplace, feels much like an upscale resort hotel. Our common areas are designed with vaulted ceilings and windows that ring the top of the rooms to bring in an abundance of natural light. The dining room has a two-story-high ceiling accented by massive wooden beams. At the end of the hallways, there are sitting and reading nooks as well as common decks, some of which are quite large and furnished. Our activities room on the first floor is the location for all of our major functions. It also includes a large patio area just outside where residents often gather to watch our spectacular High Desert sunsets. The building itself is built in a Y-shape overlooking an inner grassy area where deer and other wildlife wander through. There’s also a pathway that goes around the building where residents enjoy walking their dogs.
